As we wrap up at #OMR2024 with our first event with Pinterest I wanted to reflect on some of the stands that sparked inspiration. Trying not to be biased but the Pinterest booth definitely stood out, feeling cosy and welcoming with its warm lighting, curved corners and wood finish. It bought the platform to life having a clear purpose and attracting lots of comments from passers by. Hands on lino printing and the cafe corner kept people engaged at the stand and wanting to find out more.
Other booths that had stand out when exploring the (very busy) halls at OMR included…
Vodafone city, which had so many different surprise and delight moments throughout including a dog robot giving out leaflets, a mini cinema, a mirror tunnel, podcast booths, a surfing simulator and more, was a clear stand out space. The build design was simple but effective with bold graphics that made navigation through the large space easy and a large shipping container wall in Vodafone red separated the city space from the red stage area. The attention to detail was lovely and it was very memorable.
Intermate, one of the largest social media agencies in Europe, created a small, supermarket-style shop. Shelves stacked with silver boxes with QR codes to find out more encouraged interaction, the till area was where live tattoos were taking place, making this stand very popular, and the corner had a small meeting space all in the white pink and blue colour palette complete with neon signage. It stood out against others around it and was very fun with lots of small touches and attention to detail that elevated the social supermarket feel.
TikTok was attracting a lot of people with its classic design language and different places to create TikToks and explore music, it felt interactive and very on brand while still focussing on meeting space. The logo shaped disco ball and lots of windows in to see inside the stand created intrigue but the layout did mean everyone congregated in the centre and on day one it felt overwhelmingly busy in there.
Overall even though the primary focus of each stand was to host business meetings there were lots of nice design touches across the main expo halls. There was such a mix of brands all in one place and although overwhelming at times it was good to see such variety with the approach to design and engagement with guests. A very successful trip to Hamburg and we can’t wait to be back next year.
